Billable Companion is a small Mac app that lives in your menu bar. Start a timer, log a few hours or check today's total without hunting for a browser tab — and everything lands straight in your Billable account.

What it is
Billable Companion puts time tracking where your eyes already are: the macOS menu bar. Click the clock icon and a small popover opens with today's entries, a timer you can start, pause and stop, and the day's running total.
It isn't a separate tracker with its own data. Companion signs in to your Billable account and reads and writes the same time entries as the web app, so an hour logged on your Mac shows up on the Time page — ready to bill — and a timer started in the browser shows in the menu bar.

The timer in your menu bar
While a timer runs, its time ticks beside the menu bar icon, so you always know what you're tracking and for how long — popover open or not.
Start, pause, stop
Pick a project, add a note and go. Pause for lunch and resume where you left off; stop when you're done. One running timer per business, just like the web app.
Log time after the fact
Forgot to start the timer? Add an entry for any past day and type the duration however you think of it — 1:30, 1.5, 90m or 2h.
Your day at a glance
Flip back through past days, see each entry's project, client and notes, and keep an eye on the day's total as it ticks up.
Feels like a native Mac app
No Dock icon, no extra windows. Click away and the popover tucks itself out of sight; right-click an entry for quick actions like start again, edit or delete.
In sync with Billable
Same account, same projects, same entries. Switch between your businesses, check notifications and jump to the web app whenever you need the full picture.
Getting started

Step 1
Download and open
Download Companion, drag it to Applications and open it. A clock icon appears in your menu bar.

Sign in with your browser
Companion hands sign-in to Billable in your browser — passkeys, Google or password — then brings you straight back to the app.

Start tracking
Click the icon, pick a project and start the timer. Your time appears on the Billable Time page, ready to turn into an invoice.
